10Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic visited Historical Archives of Belgrade on August 20th 2019 together with Ivan Karl, Secretary of the Secretariat for Culture, Andrea Radulovic, Deputy Chairman of the Assembly of the City of Belgrade and representatives of the Secretariat for Investment of the City of Belgrade.  Deputy Mayor Goran Vesic got acquainted with reconstruction works conducted in the Archives as well as with future plans concerning the expansion of the Archives’ capacities which are at the moment completely full and with processes of digitization of archival material.
In the last six months two repositories of 2.400 square meters in the Historical Archives of Belgrade were reconstructed.
Reconstruction works included:
- Development of stabile fire safety system
- New air conditioning system
- Installation of new LED lights
- New heating system in the repositories
 
Investor of the reconstruction works was the City of Belgrade, Secretariat for Investment, the contractor was ELKOMS company and the works worth was 144.000.000. The reconstruction was initiated in February and according to the plans, finalized in August. These works created all necessary microclimatic, chemical, biological and physical conditions for safe preservation of the archival material. Optimal temperature will be maintained and the latest led lights will be used in the repositories.
 
Mr. Goran Vesic pointed out that it was an important day for culture in Belgrade since that investment was the biggest one in Belgrade this year and that the implementation of that project would finally allow proper preservation of archival material. He also announced new investments in the Archives and construction of new building since the capacities of the Archives are completely full.
 
Director of the Historical Archives of Belgrade Dragan Gacic stated that with this reconstruction works the Archives obtained the most modern system of archival material protection. He also thanked Deputy Mayor Vesic and the City of Belgrade for help and support given to the Archives over the years.
